Nick Knowles watches Strictly Come Dancing on crutches as Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman issue statement on his absence from Movie Week
Nick Knowles has revealed he is ‘gutted’ he missed Strictly Come Dancing while watching Saturday night’s show on crutches.
The DIY SOS star, 62, missed Movie Week just a week after his future on the show was thrown into doubt due to injury.
But during a dress rehearsal of his Charleston on Friday, Nick fell and injured his knee during a jump, leaving him on crutches and a trip to the hospital for an MRI scan.

At the start of the show, presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman kept viewers informed of the situation as he and his partner Luba Mushtuk were given a free pass to the next round of the competition.

Tess said: ‘As you can see, Nick Knowles and his partner Luba are not here. Nick suffered an injury during rehearsals and will not be able to perform tonight.’
Claudia added: “As per the rules of the competition, he gets a bye for next week’s show.”
Claudia also sent her love to Nick on behalf of the entire team and wished him a ‘speedy recovery’, to which she was received with applause.
Nick was also flooded with well wishes on his social media. with fans rushing to send him get well soon messages.

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing told MailOnline: ‘Unfortunately Nick Knowles suffered an injury during rehearsals and as a result will not be dancing this weekend.
‘According to the competition rules, Nick and Luba will be given a farewell until next week, when he will hopefully be able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery.’
A source also said that The sun: ‘Nick won’t be able to take part in Strictly tomorrow night after hurting his knee. He was in a dress rehearsal with his partner Luba Mushtuk when he took a jump and landed awkwardly.
