Nick Knowles reveals he nearly lost his TONGUE while filming a daredevil documentary in Mongolia

Nick Knowles has revealed he almost lost his tongue during a scary stunt while filming a daring documentary in Mongolia.

The dangerous incident happened when the TV presenter, 61, encountered a shaman who set a knife on fire until it was white hot.

The shaman then told Nick to lick the sword to “get rid of bad spirits,” which he did, despite worrying that the burn would leave him unable to speak.

He told The sun: ‘And then he said to me: “You must lick it to get rid of the bad spirits”. I was like… ‘If I burn my tongue bad enough, that’s the end of my career because I can’t talk.’ And so I licked it.”

“Every time I come across something furry I think, ‘I came all this way and I have to try it,’ so you have to try it, no matter how scary it is.”

Because of risky challenges like this, Nick, best known for hosting DIY: SOS, revealed that he pays for his own insurance, including helicopter emergency response.

Nick has previously risked being stuck in a crevasse in the Grand Canyon while climbing towers and flying gyrocopters through stormy weather.

He said, “You can’t get insurance because a lot of the programming I do is such big adventures.

“In fact, I’m now paying a huge amount of money to make sure I have helicopter extraction coverage instead.”

Despite the dangerous nature of his adventures, Nick insisted he wouldn’t have it any other way.

He said: ‘The star added that his shoulders, back, knees and neck are all ‘broken’ due to past accidents, but he considers them all badges of honour.”

It comes shortly after Nick’s fiancée Katie Dadzie was forced to hit back after she was shamed by trolls for stripping down to her lingerie to promote her brand.

One Instagram user said: ‘You should respect your man and not show off all on social media.’

“It’s not nice for him to know that everyone is watching you… that should be just for him…”

Katie hit back and said, “Sweet that!” before adding, “He’s fine with it, but thanks anyway.”

The commenter then added, “I’m not a hater or anything. It just makes me sad that women still do this when they have a sweet man at home… It’s just a shame. You look cute and you don’t really have to do this.’

But Katie replied: ‘I have children to feed and rent to pay on my own – if advertising lingerie for my business helps with that then it’s about us and not anyone else.

“It’s probably a shame that you think having a partner means being ashamed and hiding.”

TV star Nick, who split from wife Jessica Rose Moor in 2016, made his first appearance with Katie in September 2021 after ending his romance with PR guru Emily Hallinan in February 2020.

The couple made their public debut as a couple at a restaurant in Bath after being friends for several years.

Nick and Katie are now preparing to tie the knot as he got down on one knee and proposed with a sweet as Katie beamed from ear to ear.

Katie previously addressed the 28-year age gap between herself and Nick, joking that he acts like a “teenage boy.”

Katie addressed their age difference, insisting she doesn’t notice it because she acts older than she is, while Nick has a ‘Peter Pan complex’.

She said The sun: ‘Nick has a Peter Pan complex, he doesn’t act his age at all. He’s like a teenager and has so much energy. I also act a bit older, so that’s fine.’

Katie went on to reveal that the secret to their successful relationship is having separate homes and maintaining their own independence.

Giving insight into their relationship, Katie said they are “very happy” and said they make sure they make time for work and to be with their children.

Nick was also previously married to Gillian Knowles from 1996 to 2000.

Katie has daughters Savannah, eight, and Alex, five, from a previous relationship, while Nick has four children from three different relationships.

He shares his daughter Tuesday and son Charlie with his ex-wife Gillian, while he shares another son, TJ, with dancer Paula Beckett.

Nick also has son Eddie, who was born in 2014 with his ex-wife Jessica, and the presenter met girlfriend Katie through his youngest son.
