Nick Knowles reveals he got stuck in the Grand Canyon after his fourth weight gain during lockdown
Nick Knowles has revealed that he got stuck in the Grand Canyon while doing his new TV show after climbing four stones during lockdown.
The presenter, 60, who previously revealed his weight climbed to 18 during the pandemic, got stuck in a crevasse while filming Channel 5’s The Grand Canyon.
Speaking in Radius XNick said how much of the system around the caves is built for ‘skinny people’.
He said: ‘You have to go through ‘horizontal chimneys’ which are for real cavers, who are like hounds, they are tiny, skinny people.
“But my director told me, ‘Come through here and there’s a cave on the other side where we can talk.'”

Nick remembered how he started to panic after getting trapped and couldn’t move his shoulders.
He said: ‘But halfway through, I was like, ‘I can’t do this, this is too much.’ I had palpitations, it was really scary.
‘There was a point where it was locked, I couldn’t get past my shoulders and it was locked. My heart started pounding and I was, “Breathe, breathe, breathe.”
‘The speleologist said to me, ‘So how do you feel about your life choices?’ ‘
Nick previously recounted how his weight climbed to 18 stone after he quit his fitness training and ate ‘all the pies’, with the star describing himself as ‘huge’.
The TV personality explained how in the UK’s first lockdown, which began in March 2020, she stopped exercising while concentrating on writing.
Nick was cruelly trolled when he donned a wetsuit for the DIY SOS Children In Need special.
Asked if the comments affected him, he said in an interview on the BBC’s Morning Live: “Not because I got really fat during the first lockdown.”

“So when I came in to do the session, I was like, ‘I’ll fix myself,’ and then I didn’t, because a lot of people, not all of them, did the Joe Wicks thing, not everyone spends half their life in the gym.”
“Some people got really fat and I was like, you know what, first start of the show, let’s get on that right away.”
