Nicholas Cage has revealed that as a child he was convinced he was an alien.

The 58-year-old actor said he was “shocked” to find out that he had “normal organs and a normal skeleton” like everyone else.

Speaking to Rampstyle magazine, he opened up about his childhood, saying he had trouble relating to people because he was socially awkward.

He explained: ‘My father told me that he felt he had to introduce himself to me because I was an alien.

“I was shocked the day I went to the doctor’s office as a child and found out I had normal organs and skeleton because I was sure I was from another planet.”

Nicholas described how his social awkwardness inspired him to pursue an acting career.

He added: ‘I had a hard time connecting with other people. When I saw David Bowie in The Man Who Fell to Earth, I knew he had to do something. So I became an actor.

The Oscar winner has made many headlines over the years for his offbeat stories about his life.

In 2009, he revealed to Parade magazine that he was harassed by a mime while filming Bringing Out the Dead.

Nicholas said: ‘I guess he would fall into the stalker category more or less. A mime stalked me, silent, but perhaps lethal.

‘Somehow this mime would show up on the set of Bringing Out the Dead and start doing weird things… I have no idea how he got past security.

“Finally, the producers took some action and I haven’t seen the mime since. But it was definitely disturbing.

He also spoke about a home invasion he suffered while promoting his 2011 film Trespass at the Toronto International Film Festival.

He recalled: ‘It was two in the morning. I was living in Orange County at the time and was sleeping with my wife. My 2 year old at the time was in another room.

‘I opened my eyes and there was a naked man in my leather jacket eating a Fudge in front of my bed. I know it sounds funny… but it was horrible.

Nicholas has also made a number of bizarre purchases, including shrunken heads, albino cobras, a raven, exotic artwork, a supposed haunted mansion, and a stolen $276,000 Tyrannosaurus skull that he later had to return.

He also bought land at a cemetery in New Orleans in 2010 to build a 9-foot-tall pyramid mausoleum to be his final resting place.
