I worked as an NHS nurse for 13 years – but after reading Fifty Shades of Grey I became a dominatrix (and my grandchildren have no idea!)
A grandmother has revealed she is a secret dominatrix with ‘slaves’ in her dungeon – and her neighbours have no idea.
Ann Cave, 46, from Sheffield, was an NHS nurse for 13 years but could no longer walk. She was given a Fifty Shades of Grey book as a present and lost 160 pounds before deciding to become a dominatrix.
Now her neighbors, friends and family have no idea that she has men who pay to be her slaves in her secret dungeon beneath her semi-detached house.
Ann said: ‘Looking back, I can’t believe I went from a fat, drunk nana to a sexy Mistress Angel. By sharing my story now, I want to give other women confidence.’
Ann worked for 13 years as an NHS nurse on cancer wards and explains: ‘My career as a nurse was everything. I was extremely hardworking. I was very boring. My life with my husband and grandchildren was also boring.’

But in 2015, she suddenly started experiencing pain and swelling in her legs. Doctors discovered she had developed a rare form of osteoporosis and she had to undergo experimental surgery.
After the operation she could no longer walk and was confined to bed for almost two years.
Ann said: ‘Since I was bedridden I sought solace in food and my weight shot up to 23st 12lbs. I was huge. I was only 38 at the time but felt like an old woman.
‘Then one day a friend gave me the novel Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James and I got caught up in their spicy sex life.
“Christian was dominant and Ana was submissive. It was a world of difference from my life. Not only was I a hardworking nurse, but I was also a stepmother with seven step-grandchildren.
“But Fifty Shades lit a fire in me and I started fantasizing about dominating someone.”
The first step Ann wanted to take was to lose the pounds she had gained. Because she couldn’t exercise because of her ankle, she decided to have a gastric sleeve in October 2016, which permanently reduced the size of her stomach.
Then the weight came off and she lost a whopping 75 kilos. She now weighed 75 kilos and fit size 42 in her clothes again.

She led clients to her three-bedroom semi-detached house and they all loved her collection of whips, chains, masks, feather dusters, handcuffs and sex toys of all shapes and sizes

Ann said: ‘It was the best I had felt in years! My confidence soared. Still thinking about Mr. Grey, I contacted an ex-colleague who worked as a dominatrix.
‘She told me that men paid her to do all kinds of things, including beating her with whips and paddles.
“Despite not having sex with her clients, she was making a decent living. I told her I wanted to be like her and she became a mentor to me.”
Ann soon began training with her friend in her basement, where she took dominatrix classes.
She learned everything from spanking to role-playing. In December 2020, Ann transformed the basement of her home into a dungeon before posting her services on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ann said: ‘I called myself Mistress Angel and my inbox went crazy. I felt so dizzy. I started opening the door in black leather corsets and wetlook leggings for men in their 60s in work suits.
‘My first client was a businessman who was on break. He obeyed me straight away and for the next hour we played with whips and sex toys. It was exciting and in the end I got £150! It was my dream job.’
Shortly thereafter, Ann began receiving a steady stream of clients, up to six a week.
Ann said: ‘To the outside world I was an innocent nan, but behind closed doors I was a powerful dominatrix who could make men lick my PVC boots with just a stern look! Sadly my husband and I grew apart. He didn’t like what I did.’
In July 2022, Ann got divorced and felt more attractive than ever. As time went by, Ann set up a real sex dungeon, the second bedroom and the upper floor of her house.
She led her clients to her three-bedroom semi-detached house and they all loved her collection of whips, chains, masks, feather dusters, handcuffs and sex toys of all shapes and sizes.

Ann said: ‘Some clients were into role-playing, so we were minister and nun, or vampires. I had clients from America and Australia. One man even wanted to be my slave for a week.
“He cooked, cleaned, gardened, and cleaned the dungeon. Then he paid me for it. I even had female slaves and submissives, and a few couples! They are all consenting adults with different needs.”
Ann keeps her secret life as a dominatrix a secret from her neighbors, family and friends.
Ann said, “I’m still close to my stepchildren and grandchildren. But I try to see them, rather than have them come over in case they find my dungeon or toys! If there’s a knock on the door while I’m working, I’ll put my client in chains.
“I am financially free and living my best life. I want to inspire older women that it is never too late to do something exciting with your life.”
