NFL team woos CEO away from $13billion, iconic century-old US company in latest sign of league dominance

The Washington Commanders have announced Mark Clouse as the team’s next president, luring him to the NFL from The Campbell’s Company.

Clouse, who begins his new role in January, has served as president and CEO of The Campbell’s Company since 2019. In his role, he oversaw several iconic brands, including Campbell’s, Rao’s and Goldfish.

The Campbell’s Company market has a market cap of $13.55 billion and Clouse’s move shows the NFL’s appeal in American society to bring someone of his caliber into the league.

The Campbell’s Company has collaborated with the NFL in the past, with a recent notable collaboration seeing Travis and Jason Kelce appear in a commercial for the soup brand.

Campbell’s soups have been a staple of American supermarkets for decades.

Clouse replaces Jason Wright, who has been president of the team since 2020.

Of last year’s top 100 broadcasts, 93 were NFL games, including all of the top 20 and 43 of the top 44.

The NFL is so popular that the Super Bowl lead-out program was also part of the top 100 broadcasts of the year.

The Commanders enter their bye week in a playoff position at 8-5 and are enjoying a resurgent year with Dan Quinn as head coach and rookie sensation Jayden Daniels at quarterback.
