Russell Wilson somehow avoided a serious injury after allegedly driving his golf cart straight into a bunker and flipping it upside down over the weekend.

The Denver Broncos quarterback, already a figure of fun among many NFL fans, was supposed to be playing a round with friends at Arrowhead Golf Course in Littleton, Colorado when the remarkable incident occurred.

As reported by 104.3 Fan’s Matt Smith on Twitter, and confirmed by sources close to Wilson, the crash happened over the weekend and luckily no one was injured.

A since-deleted photo then surfaced on Reddit, appearing to show some golfers crowding around an overturned golf cart in a fairway bunker.

It is currently unclear how the incident happened and the nine-time Pro Bowler has yet to publicly comment on what happened.

Wilson, who is married to singer Ciara, is known for his “Let’s Ride” catchphrase, but he may decide to keep both feet on the ground for the foreseeable future as off-season workouts begin soon.

Wilson will have his first season in Denver in 2022 after nine seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

In his first year with the Broncos, he went 4-11, and was sacked more than any other quarterback in the NFL.

Another factor that would make coaches wince when they learned of Wilson’s injury was the fact that he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in the off-season.

He is expected to be fully fit in time for OTAs, but the 34-year-old is lucky to have avoided injury in a rare – and unusual – incident on the golf course.
