‘God be with D Hamlin right now’: NFL stars Odell Beckham and Patrick Mahomes lead well wishes for Damar Hamlin after he collapsed on the field and was rushed to hospital playing for the Bills against the Bengals
The NFL world and beyond sent prayers and well wishes to the Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin after he collapsed on the field playing the Cincinnati Benglas on Monday night.
Hamlin was in critical condition after needing CPR and oxygen, collapsing after he made a tackle during the first quarter. He scrambled to his feet and seemed to try to adjust his helmet for a moment before falling back and lying motionless on the ground.
The NFL postponed the game, but as the shocking scenes unfolded, sports stars took to social media to pray for good news about the 24-year-old.

Bills players were distraught as doctors attended to Hamlin before putting him in the ambulance.
“Praying hard… please stay well,” Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, tweeted.
‘God be with D Hamlin right now!’ said Odell Beckham, winner of the Super Bowl in 2022.
‘Father God, I pray that Damar Hamlin is safe and here with us. I also ask that you have a speedy recovery mentally and physically God; in Jesus’ name… Amen,’ New York Jets cornerback Ahmad ‘Willow’ Gardner said.
“Praying for Damar Hamlin and his family,” New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones said.
“Hamlin needs all the prayers we can give him,” Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney said.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Hamlin’s teammate, also tweeted “please pray for our brother” after play was called.
Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt said: ‘The game is not important. Damar Hamlin’s life is important. Please be fine. Please.’
Watt himself retires from the NFL at the end of the season, revealing in October that last September he had to have a rapid heart rate.
His teammate Stefon Diggs later joined Hamlin in the hospital. About 100 Bills fans and a few Bengals fans gathered on a corner a block from the ER entrance with some of them holding candles.
Cincinnati Bengals catcher Tee Higgins, who Hamler sacked on the play, tweeted

Outside the NFL, Cleveland Cavilers star Donovan Mitchell offered Hamlin his best wishes following a historic 71-point game. Prayers for the Bills security man. I had found out… We are all praying for him in the locker room… From the Caviler organization we wish him the best, and we pray that everything goes well.
LeBron James also took to Twitter to retweet a video of Hamlin hugging his family before a game saying “Praying on you kid!!!”
Hamlin started a toy drive in December 2020 to buy children’s toys before the holidays.
Within an hour of Hamlin’s injury, he had received donations totaling more than $1 million.
‘I’m praying for you and your family! Praying hard for a miracle! You have to go back and do bigger things! You haven’t finished yet!!’ wrote a fan, who donated $150.
Another said: ‘Sending love and prayers from a Seahawks fan. We are all part of the Bills nation tonight.
