NFL star rushed to hospital for emergency surgery as team give vital health update

Houston Texans star Cade Stover was rushed to the hospital Saturday to undergo emergency appendix surgery, the team revealed.

The young tight end scored his first NFL touchdown against the Titans two weeks ago, but will now be sidelined after dealing with health issues over the weekend.

The team initially revealed he was doubtful for Sunday’s match after suffering an ‘illness’, but more news was released this morning in the form of a vital health update.

In a tweet, the Titans said: “TE Cade Stover underwent emergency surgery last night. He is doing well today and expects to make a full recovery.

“Stover has been downgraded to out for Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins.”

Stover played college football for Ohio State from 2019 to 2023 before being selected by Houston in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

He has made an immediate impact this season, recording 57 percent of the team’s snaps against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend.

The week before, against the Titans, Stover caught the first touchdown pass of his career, going for three catches and 26 yards.

Stover’s absence on Sunday is expected to affect Irv Smith Jr. a more prominent role after being activated from the practice roster on Saturday.
