NFL star Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly reveals she slept with ‘bad boy’ back-up quarterback to make her future husband jealous when they were at college
Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly has revealed that she dated the quarterback’s backup just to make him jealous.
The Los Angeles Rams star played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2006 to 2008. His future wife, then known as Kelly Hall, was a cheerleader in Athens around the same time.
Kelly has claimed that Stafford tried to casually date her during her college years, despite her being all in for the football star.
So she decided to ‘p**k’ him by dumping him for his backup, who lived in the same dorm and was the complete opposite.
“It wasn’t a great relationship at first – I hated him, I loved him,” Kelly revealed on the channel From the vine podcast. “I went out with the backup (quarterback) to finish him off – which worked.”

She added: “He was the bad boy too. Matthew is so sweet, a southern gentleman, all that stuff. And the backup was completely the opposite and it upset him.”
During the 2006 season, Stafford was a freshman who played backup to Joe Tereshinski III before taking the starting spot. Joe Cox also played quarterback for the Bulldogs that year.
Subsequently, Stafford was Georgia’s starting quarterback in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons, with Cox as his backup. He became the first overall pick in the 2009 draft.
But Kelly revealed how her new relationship prompted Stafford to confront her and warn her about his teammate.

The couple is now happily married and has four young daughters together
“They lived in the same dorm because athletes lived in the same dorm — and he would see my car there,” she continued.
“So at one point he waited, followed me out and got into my car. And it wouldn’t work out. I thought, “This is great, it works!”
After she told him to get out of her car, Stafford responded, “He’s not right for you.” To which Kelly replied, “You can’t tell me!”
Stafford spent 11 years with the Detroit Lions before joining the Rams in 2021. He led Los Angeles to the Super Bowl in his first season.
