NFL star Jimmy Graham is arrested just weeks after his high-profile return to New Orleans… when police found him ‘wandering in traffic’ and ‘under the influence of a controlled substance’

Jimmy Graham of New Orleans has been arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance after police reportedly found him in traffic.

The 36-year-old made a high-profile return to his former team this off-season, but his comeback may have been dealt a major blow by the news of his arrest.

TMZ report that Graham exhibited strange behavior Friday night near a resort town in Southern California.

It is alleged that he resisted arrest when police tried to handcuff him, and he was eventually booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, as well as resisting, delaying and obstructing a police officer.

The Saints star was in Cali with his team, which was preparing for Sunday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He has since been released and the incident is under investigation.

New Orleans practiced alongside their opponents this week and Graham was heavily involved all week, regularly pictured in his pads alongside his teammates.

Graham also played in the Saints’ preseason with the Chiefs last week as he prepares for his first year back in New Orleans since leaving in 2014.

He was drafted by the team in 2010 and spent five years playing regular time before moving on to the Seahawks, Packers and Bears.

Graham, now 36 and in the twilight of his career, will return to the field after being sidelined in 2022 following the end of his Chicago deal.

In May 2023, he was involved in a cycling accident when he was hit by a car, which left him with a cut to his calf that required stitches, but it didn’t slow down his comeback.

The tight end is a five-time Pro Bowler and a 12-year veteran of the NFL.

Mail Sport has contacted the NFL and the New Orleans Saints for comment.
