New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested Saturday morning on charges of assault, battery, strangulation and drug possession.
Braintree police announced details of the arrest Monday morning after an altercation between two people at a home led to police being called.
Peppers, who is the Patriots’ starting safety and one of the team’s captains, is expected to be charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, strangulation and possession of a Class B drug that police believe it’s cocaine.
Police also announced that a victim was treated at the scene.
Peppers did not play in Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins due to a shoulder injury, and his future status is unclear.
He will be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday, but further details have not yet been released.
