NFL star issues groveling apology for accusing cops of racism over traffic stop

New England Patriots star Christian Barmore has publicly apologized for accusing police of racism after he was arrested in Providence this week.

A partially redacted incident report provided to DailyMail.com showed Barmore was stopped for a traffic violation around 1 a.m. Wednesday. Barmore, who is listed as a suspect, is charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to properly display license plates and driving with an expired license plate.

Barmore tweeted shortly after accusing police of being racist, but after taking to social media on Saturday he has taken back those comments and his tweet has since been deleted.

“A few days have passed since the incident with Providence police and I have had a chance to think deeply about my behavior,” he wrote.

“I want everyone to know that I am sorry and that I take full responsibility for my actions. I apologize to the Providence Police Department, my teammates and my family.

Barmore claims five officers stopped him in what he described as ‘racism at its finest’

‘My mother was a police officer and I understand the pressure that comes with their work. Which I didn’t make any easier by reacting the way I did. I use this as an opportunity to learn and perform better.

“I have already met with members of the Providence Police Department to personally apologize. I hope they accept my sincere apology. That meeting is just the first step of many that I am taking on the road to self-improvement.’
