Miami Dolphins 27-30 Buffalo Bills
Tyler Bass made a career-best 61-yard field goal with five seconds left, Josh Allen threw three second-half touchdown passes in a back-and-forth matchup with Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa, and the Buffalo Bills (7-2) put continued their attack. dominance of the Dolphins (2-6) with a 30-27 victory. The teams traded leads four times in a tense second half that featured seven consecutive scoring drives: four from AFC East leader Buffalo and three from division rival Miami. Buffalo’s final drive stalled at the Miami 43 after a spike and two incompletions, and coach Sean McDermott put his faith in the inconsistent Bass. He came through with the longest field goal in franchise history.
Washington Commanders 27–22 New York Giants
Sensational rookie Jayden Daniels threw two touchdown passes to Terry McLaurin, and the Washington Commanders defeated the bumbling New York Giants for their best start to the season in nearly three decades. Daniels hit McLaurin after completing passes of one and 18 yards in the first half. Austin Ekeler added a one-yard TD run as the Commanders completed a season sweep of the NFC East rival Giants. Washington is 7-2 for the first time since 1996, while the Giants fell to 2-7 and 0-5 at home. Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score for New York.
Denver Broncos 10-41 Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns and finished with a perfect passer rating, and the Baltimore Ravens (6-3) had little trouble against Denver’s defense. Baltimore’s beleaguered defense didn’t force a punt until the third quarter, but a pair of early stops on fourth down helped the Ravens build a lead as they bounced back from last weekend’s surprising loss in Cleveland. Zay Flowers had five catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and Derrick Henry rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns against the 5-4 Broncos. Henry scored the 100th and 101st rushing touchdowns of his career, and he has now surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground in a season for the sixth time.
Dallas Cowboys 21-27 Atlanta Falcons
Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes and the Atlanta Falcons maintained their first place position in the NFC South with a win over the struggling Cowboys. It was the third straight loss for Dallas, which also lost quarterback Dak Prescott to a hamstring injury. Cousins completed 19 of 24 passes for 222 yards, including 13 in a row at one point for the 6-3 Falcons. He scored plays of nine yards against Drake London, 36 yards against Darnell Mooney and 11 yards against Ray-Ray McCloud. The Cowboys tried to rally behind Cooper Rush after Prescott was ruled out. Rush led an 86-yard drive in the final minutes, capped by a touchdown pass to Jalen Tolbert and two-point conversion. But the Falcons recovered an onside kick to seal the victory, dropping Dallas to 3-5.
Las Vegas Raiders 24-41 Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow tied his career high with five touchdown passes, and the Cincinnati Bengals (4-5) earned their first home win of the season, defeating the Las Vegas Raiders (2-7). Chase Brown rushed for a career-high 120 yards for Cincinnati. Burrow was 27 for 39 for 251 yards. He threw touchdown passes to Brown, Andrei Iosivas, Drew Sample and the last two to Mike Gesicki. But he also had an interception that was returned by Jack Jones for a TD early in the fourth quarter. Brown racked up a season-high 27 carries while Zack Moss was sidelined with a neck injury.
Los Angeles Chargers 27-10 Cleveland Browns
Justin Herbert passed for 250 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Los Angeles Chargers (5-3) to victory over the Cleveland Browns, who couldn’t get anything going with Jameis Winston. Herbert connected on a 66-yard TD pass to Quentin Johnston and a 27-yarder to Joshua Palmer as the Chargers built a big halftime lead and rolled to their fifth straight win over Cleveland (2-7). JK Dobbins had two rushing touchdowns for Los Angeles. Winston threw three interceptions and was sacked six times by the Chargers’ defense, which came in giving up a league-high 13 points per game.
New Orleans Saints 22-23 Carolina Panthers
Chuba Hubbard scored on a 16-yard run with 2:18 left and the Carolina Panthers snapped a five-game losing streak, beating the New Orleans Saints 23-22. Bryce Young completed 16 of 26 passes for 171 yards per touchdown and improved to 1-3 against the Saints in his career. Coach Dave Canales declined to say after the game whether Young would start next Sunday against the New York Giants in Munich. Hubbard ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Alvin Kamara had 215 yards from scrimmage for the Saints, who have lost seven straight. Kamara carried 29 times for 155 yards and caught six passes for 60 yards. Both teams are 2-7.
New England Patriots 17-20 Tennessee Titans
Nick Folk made a 25-yard field goal with 2:32 left in overtime and the Tennessee Titans (2-6) defeated the New England Patriots (2-7), giving coach Brian Callahan his first home victory. The Titans snapped a three-game skid both overall and at Nissan Stadium. The Patriots got rookie Drake Maye back after the third overall pick out of North Carolina cleared the concussion protocol. Maye used his legs and ran for a career-best and team-high 95 yards. He was also fired four times.
