Baker Mayfield was disguised as a Buccaneers superfan while connecting with other Tampa Bay diehards for the pilot of a brand new Amazon Prime series.
The eighth-year veteran starred in Episode 1 of Peyton and Eli Manning’s The Undercovers series, in which NFL stars go undercover and interact with their respective fan bases before revealing their identities.
In the first episode of the series, Mayfield wore a prosthetic nose, a long wig and a bandana. He also wore a fake mustache while going on his undercover trip.
“I will no longer be Baker Mayfield, I will now be Gus Swayze,” he said in a trailer for the show.
In the minute-long montage, Mayfield called his wife Emily Wilkinson to say “Hey there, beautiful mama” after his makeover was complete. His partner responded by saying, “Ew!”

He is then seen walking through the Buccaneers’ practice facility as his teammates greeted his character with smiles.
Mayfield is also seen in a meeting with the fans, where performance is discussed, to which Swayze says, “I wish he would just focus on football.”
Additionally, Mayfield’s alter ego said he “hopes he can handle” calling his plays this year after a fan brought up the subject.
Mayfield is in his second season facilitating the Bucs’ offense. Before arriving in 2022, he spent four seasons in Cleveland and had single seasons in Carolina and Los Angeles.
The Bucs are off to a good start this season with a 3-1 record. Aside from a Week 2 loss to Denver, Mayfield led Tampa Bay to convincing wins over Philadelphia, Detroit and Washington.
Mayfield has completed 91 of his 129 attempts for 984 yards and eight touchdowns with just two interceptions.
Before Eli Manning brought the idea of undercover quarterbacks to Amazon Prime, he dabbled in a similar concept when he crashed Penn State’s walk-on tryouts disguised as Chad Powers.
The segment was created for his Eli’s Places series for Omaha Productions.
