Robert Griffin III, former Washington Commanders quarterback and now ESPN college football analyst, got an embarrassing dress mistake while toasting the return of college football.

During the lead up to the Washington Huskies’ No. 10 season opener against Boise State, Griffin filmed a segment that stood next to picturesque Lake Washington, which flanks the 103-year-old Huskies Stadium.

“I’m so excited that college football season is back. Let’s go ahead and start this thing with a splash,” said the former Baylor quarterback.

Griffin then jumped off the boat he was on, but the camera was able to catch his pants split in half as he floated through the air.

“I ripped my pants!” Griffin screamed after returning to the surface. “My pants fall off.”

After the accident, ESPN play-by-play commentator Bob Wischusen cut into a commercial by saying, “Somebody, give that man a life preserver and take him to the booth!”

Griffin later posted a tweet holding the ripped pants, saying, “The pants are all torn. I couldn’t have planned it better.’

The 33-year-old took it in good spirits, sharing memes comparing him to SpongeBob SquarePants.

On the field, it took Michael Penix Jr almost a quarter of the way. and Washington got to grips with what they saw of Boise State. Once Penix solved the puzzle, there was no slowing down the Huskies.

“Once we started to see what they were doing, we knew they would try to bring different things to us at the beginning of the game, things that we might not have seen on film,” said Penix. “But once we saw the picture, it went further.”

Penix Jr. threw for 450 yards and tied his career-high with five touchdown passes, and Washington overwhelmed Boise State with a 56-19 win in the team’s season opener on Saturday.

Penix started his final college season and a Heisman Trophy campaign with a great passing performance after a few shaky drives in the opening moments. Penix passed 29 of 40 and threw touchdowns to four receivers.
