Cleveland Browns deputy Cade York was redfaced Thursday night after bragging about his preseason performance against the Eagles at halftime — before missing two crucial win attempts.

York, who was drafted by the Browns in the fourth round of last year’s NFL draft, got off to a good start in Philadelphia when he made three punts in the first half – one 27 and two from 43 out.

During the break, the 22-year-old posted a story from Cleveland’s Instagram account about one of his kicks in the first half, captioning it: “+3 from No. 3.”

But unfortunately for both the Browns and their No. 3, he followed it up by squandering two chances to win the game after the break.

York first gave up the chance to push his team forward after missing from 47 yards wide on the right, before an Eagles penalty brought him five yards closer and a chance of redemption.

Browns placekicker Cade York was redfaced in their preseason game against the Eagles

York missed two crucial game-winning kicks as Cleveland was held to an 18-18 tie that night

His second-half blunders came after he reposted an Instagram story from the Browns to celebrate one of his successful kicks earlier in the game.

However, the Texas-born star sent his next effort wide left to ensure the game ended in a tie at 18-18.

York quickly removed the post from his Instagram story following his stinker in the second half, though it’s unclear whether he or his PR team was responsible for the repost.

Regardless, fans took to social media to criticize him for his half-time bragging rights, with one writing on X, “Oh god. What a clown. Another wasted AB draft pick.’

Another posted: “This ended well.”

While one simply said: ‘Incredible’.

That said, some also jumped to York’s defense by pointing out that the original post came from Cleveland rather than the placekicker.

“Cade didn’t post this…the Browns did,” one fan wrote.

While another commented, “If you look in the left corner it’s clear the Cleveland Browns account posted it and tagged him.” This is also how social media works, they update people with information. They weren’t wrong saying he took 3 kicks, it’s literally how they scored. Relaxed…….’

Regardless of the Instagram post, York was still bitterly disappointed to have missed two opportunities to clinch a pre-season victory for the Browns.

He told reporters after the game, “Definitely disappointed that happened and wanted a chance to get back out there and do something from a long distance.”

York also claimed to have missed just one kick out of 40 to 45 attempts during training for Cleveland.

The Browns now face the Kansas City Chiefs in their final preseason outing this Saturday.
