NFL fans fume at Patrick Mahomes after ‘sickening’ decision in the dying moments of Chiefs’ win over Falcons

NFL bettors were furious with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at the end of Sunday Night Football’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Going into the game’s final possession, Mahomes had 30 rushing yards, well above the popular prop bet that calls for the Chiefs QB to average at least 19.5 yards on the ground.

But with time to spare, Mahomes had to improvise a bit before he could officially take a knee.

To do this, he dropped back a little with each knee drop, costing him five, four, and four more yards.

That was enough to end the game, but it also dropped his total rushing yards from 30 to 17, dashing the hopes of those who had banked on Mahomes’ rushing yards prop.

Mahomes took the time to kneel, taking 13 yards in lost yards

According to BetMGM, 94 percent of their bookmaker’s tickets were for the Chiefs quarterback, who would go on to rush for over 19.5 yards in the game. Many were outraged by his decision to lose so many yards in garbage time.

People started posting about their losses on social media, many people were angry and cursed the quarterback’s name.

“I hate this SO much,” one angry gambler wrote on Twitter. “Annoying idiot cost me my $150 with 1.5 rush yards because of this stupid shit.”

Another user wrote: ‘I love seeing things like this and hearing people say that there is no cheating in sports.’

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse beat than this,” said another user.

“Mahomes just knelt down 45 feet? Are you serious?” wrote one user who posted his betting slip.

“Second time this season I’ve lost a QB rushing prop due to knee issues,” another post read.

Another said: “There aren’t many bad beats worse than this. 13 yards in three plays? Ouch.”

Bettors and fans were surprised by the quarterback’s decisions, leading to losing bets

As for Mahomes himself, the Chiefs quarterback did quite well against Atlanta’s defense.

Mahomes completed 26 of 39 passes for 217 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while collecting 17 yards on the ground.

Only four of those passes were to tight end Travis Kelce, who continues to struggle with a slow start to the season, leading some to call for his retirement.

Kansas City will take their perfect 3-0 record to Los Angeles when they take on the division rival Chargers next Sunday.
