NFL fans are all saying the same thing as Daniel Jones is listed on Cowboys roster after Giants release

Daniel Jones is on the Dallas Cowboys’ roster just hours after being released from the New York Giants – and NFL fans are convinced he’s destined to come back and haunt his former team on Thanksgiving.

After losing his spot as New York’s starting quarterback, Jones approached Giants president John Mara on Friday and asked to be released from his contract, a request that was quickly accepted.

But not long after Mara announced his departure, eagle-eyed fans noticed the 27-year-old was listed as a Cowboys player on the team’s website.

It’s unclear whether Dallas, who are without No. 1 quarterback Dak Prescott this season, accidentally leaked a potential move or if their site was hacked before it was quickly taken down.

However, fans on social media are desperate to see Jones go to Texas as the Cowboys will face the Giants on Thanksgiving next week, with many tipping him to get revenge on his old employers if that happens.

One user wrote on X, “Lmao play it on Thanksgiving and beat the giants.”

Another commented: “He shows up. This is going to be hilarious.”

“Troll unlimited, that would be great TV,” said a third.

A fourth said: ‘Cowboys from 3 TDs lmaooooooooo’.

While one simply posted: ‘It could be the comedy special of the season’.

Jones, who made 70 appearances for the Giants after being selected sixth overall in the 2019 draft, addressed his demotion in front of the media on Thursday with a message that had the tone of a farewell speech.

“The opportunity to play for the New York Giants was truly a dream come true and I am extremely grateful to the Mara and Tisch families for the opportunity to play here,” he told reporters.

“The Giants are truly a first-class organization and I have nothing but sincere respect and appreciation for the people who built the organization and helped continue that tradition. ‘

‘I have met so many special people and created relationships that will truly last a lifetime. Thank you [to] all my teammates, coaches and staff who have done so much for me over the past six years.”

“There have been great times,” he continued. ‘But of course we wish there were more of them. I take full responsibility for my part and will not take more wins.

“Nobody wanted to win more games than me and I gave everything I had on the field and in my preparation and I wish I could have done more.”

Brian Daboll’s team is enduring another miserable campaign after winning just two of their first ten games and losing their last five, leaving them at the bottom of the NFC East. Last season they finished third with a 6-11 record.

And it wasn’t much better for the Cowboys, who are 3-7 and just one spot above the Giants in the NFC East.
