NFL fans all say the same thing after Jets star Garrett Wilson makes miracle TD catch in vital win over Texans
Even in the darkest NFL games, there’s sometimes a glint of light piercing through the clouds. Garrett Wilson provided that moment with one of the New York Jets’ biggest catches history – if not always.
Nearly a decade after New York Giants Odell Beckham Jr. made a spectacular one-handed catch at MetLife Stadium, Wilson did the same with a miraculous effort that punctuated his team’s first victory in more than 40 days as they defeated the Houston Texans 21-13. Thursday night football.
Trailing 10-7, Wilson turned in the air, reached back with his right hand to grab the ball from Aaron Rodgers, corralled it and landed in the end zone.
Officials reviewed the play for a while and ruled it a touchdown when Wilson tapped his foot down, then his shin hit the turf in bounds before his knee tapped out of bounds.
Fans on social media immediately began comparing Wilson’s problem to Beckham’s 2014 catch — which may be one of the most famous catches in NFL history.

Other comparisons were made to the “Air Jordan” logo as social media went wild.
“I haven’t gasped so hard at a player’s catch since *Odell Beckham Jr.’s* catch. in 2014,” PFF’s Mike Kennedy wrote. “Your Honor, Garrett Wilson is not human. Rule of cool and all, yeah, but he might have gotten his shin down! ‘Catch of the year’ would be an understatement.’
“Garrett Wilson is UNREAL!” wrote ESPN’s Sarah Spain.
Danny Heifetz of The Ringer wrote, “Never in my life have I seen a receiver tap the same foot twice without catching the other, and now between Garrett Wilson and George Pickens we’ve seen him twice in four days.”
Ralph Russo of the Athletic wrote, “There are about five to six players on this Jets team who deserve better than what this horrible franchise can provide. Garrett Wilson is one of them.”
Another fan wrote, “Garrett Wilson literally made the jumpman logo lmao.”
