The NFL has explained why its social media channels have removed several references to Taylor Swift and is backtracking on any suggestions it is enjoying the Kansas City Chiefs’ success now that Travis Kelce is dating the pop sensation.
Some fans vented their anger after Swift was in the stands for Kansas City’s controversial win over the New York Jets on Sunday.
Even Kelce believes the NFL is “exaggerating” its coverage of its new flame. NBC mentioned the singer seventeen times during Sunday’s game. “Damn, that’s crazy. That’s like a ride,” the tight end said.
Shortly after the climax of ‘Sunday Night Football’, the NFL’s official Instagram account read ‘chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties’ – Kelce and Co have won both games she has attended since their romance went public.
Meanwhile, on X, formerly known as Twitter, the league bio was temporarily “NFL (Taylor’s Version)” before being changed towe had the best day with you today’ – a reference to Swift’s song ‘The Best Day’.

For a while, the competition’s cover photos were a collage of photos of Swift at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night.
It didn’t take long for the references to disappear, however. On Wednesday morning, X’s league coverage focused on this weekend’s game between the Jaguars and the Bills in London.
“We regularly change our bios and profile images based on what’s happening in and around our games, as well as culturally,” the NFL said. The New York Post.
“The news of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has been a pop-cultural moment that we’ve leaned on in real time because it’s an intersection of sports and entertainment, and we’ve seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport.”
In response to accusations that the league appeared to be celebrating the Chiefs’ success — fueling conspiracy theories — the NFL added, “The vast majority of our content has remained focused on the game, our players and a variety of other initiatives … including our Toy Story Funday Football alt-cast, the International Games and more.’

An average of 27 million viewers tuned in to NBC and Peacock to watch the Chiefs beat the Jets, while celebrity friends Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and more joined Swift in her suite at MetLife.
Travis said on Wednesday’s new episode of his New Heights podcast, “They’re definitely exaggerating it a little bit, especially my situation. They’re just trying to have fun with it.”
Kelce appears on his podcast with his older brother Jason, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles. He sided with his brother’s opinions and told the NFL to follow the NBA’s lead.
“The NFL is not used to celebrities coming to the Games,” Jason said. “Basketball has figured it out.
“You show them once, let them know they’re there, maybe after a touchdown, but you can’t overdo it. There are people there to watch the game.’
