The NFL decided not to punish Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill for an incident of alleged assault at Miami’s Haulover Marina earlier this summer.
According to news reports at the time of the incident, Hill allegedly punched a marina employee during a disagreement on June 18. Police have investigated, but no charges have been filed.
Lawyers for both sides released a joint statement in July announcing that the situation had been resolved. Before the incident turned into a legal dispute, Hill tried to settle with the marina employee by offering him $200 in hush money.
The wideout told reporters earlier this summer that he was not concerned about a potential penalty or suspension from the league. He said his only focus was on the upcoming season.
“If I can come here and play the ball, man, at the end of the day I get a chance to get away from it all,” Hill said. “That’s the beauty of football. God has blessed me to be able to perform and do what I do, and I’m blessed and thankful for that, and I just can’t make stupid mistakes like that.”

The incident was allegedly caused by Hill and his acquaintances boarding a fishing charter boat without the owner’s permission. When they were discovered aboard the ship, they were immediately asked to disembark.
A verbal altercation ensued, during which Hill allegedly hit one of the employees “with an open hand” in the neck.
The wideout also reportedly said, “I can buy you and the boat” to the charter captain after he sold the Dolphins No. 10 and his associates to leave the boat.
Hill has faced legal trouble before when he was named in a 2019 child abuse report (see in 2022)
Hill has previously been investigated by police, as he was mentioned in a child abuse case reported in 2019. At the time, he was under investigation for an alleged battery incident involving a minor, according to multiple published reports, with his three-year-old son suffering a broken arm in the incident.
Hill, 29, is entering his second campaign with the Dolphins after spending his first six years with the Kansas City Chiefs. He set record highs in receptions (119) and yards (1,710) and scored seven touchdowns in 17 games last season.
A seven-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time All-Pro, Hill has a career total of 598 catches for 8,340 yards and 63 touchdowns in 108 games (90 starts).
He surprised fans in the off-season when he announced his intention to retire after the 2025/26 season, which would count as his tenth in the NFL.
