Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs won't find an ally in NFL commissioner Roger Goodell — who spoke out about the “controversial” ending to last week's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney scored a touchdown on a brilliant lateral from tight end Travis Kelce. However, Toney drew the offside and canceled out a winning score.

After several days of complaints from Chiefs top players and top players — including quarterback Patrick Mahomes — Goodell stood next to the officials.

“There was no question about that mistake,” Goodell said (per Ian Rapoport). “It was absolutely the right decision.”

The call took away a moment of brilliance from Kelce, but the Chiefs seemed even angrier at the referees' failure to warn Toney that he was offside more than a penalty had actually been called.

Days later, Mahomes admitted he let emotions get the better of him at the time

A screaming Mahomes had to be restrained as he tried to confront the officials before telling opposing QB Josh Allen that the call was “f****ng terrible” in the dramatic moments at the end of the game at Arrowhead Stadium.

In the days that followed, a calmer Mahomes admitted that Allen deserved “better sportsmanship” in the aftermath of the loss.

On Wednesday, Mahomes admitted that he let the moment get to him and that he is trying to be a better example.

“I think it's the pressure to be a good person,” Mahomes said Wednesday. “I try to act in such a way that I'm a good role model because I've looked up to the guys that have been on this stage since I was a little kid running around the locker room.”

“I'm just trying to be a good person,” Mahomes continued. “Of course I care, so my emotions were shown on the football field, which was shown in a good way, but obviously that wasn't a good way.”
