The suspect arrested in the robbery of the home of Neymar’s former girlfriend and daughter reportedly planned the invasion after learning that famous people lived in the same condominium as his mother and stepmother.
São Paulo authorities arrested Eduardo Vasconcelos on Tuesday, a day after he and two other young men raided the house and took Bruna Biancardi’s parents hostage in São Paulo’s upscale Cotia neighborhood.
The 20-year-old had moved back into his mother and stepfather’s home less than a week ago and began plotting the robbery after learning that Biancardi was living in the apartment with the Brazilian star footballer’s one-month-old daughter. , the police said.
“The matter is already in the hands of the competent authorities and justice will be served,” Biancardi’s said in a statement on Wednesday.
Surveillance footage showed Vasconcelos arriving at the condominium with his two accomplices moments before they broke into Biancardi’s apartment.

Vasconcelos fled on foot and was arrested near the apartment shortly after the incident.

“Material items are being recovered, the most important thing is that everyone is okay and the people involved are found,” Biancardi wrote on her Instagram account.
Neymar, who is recovering from surgery on November 2 after tearing his cruciate ligament during Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay two weeks ago, also lamented the attack on his own Instagram account.
Brazilian news channel Metropoles reported that Vasconcelos was first arrested for drug abuse in December 2021.
He was arrested again in June 2022 for selling cocaine and crack, and was later convicted and given a one-year prison sentence.
