Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has reiterated his support for controversial Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
Neymar appeared on Bolsonaro’s YouTube channel to reaffirm his support for the president, saying, “The values the president represents are the same as mine.”
Lula Da Silva, who is also running for president, accused Neymar of backing Bolsonaro for canceling the winger’s debt.

Neymar was eager to dismiss those claims, adding that “it’s important to express your values.”
Speaking on a live stream on Bolsanaro’s YouTube channel, Neymar said: “What motivated me to express my opinion is the values that the president represents, they are the same as mine, those of my family. He defends the people, the children, the family… It’s important to take a stand. I call on those who hesitate to do so. It is a right, it is important to express your values. I’m proud to do that.’

Lula, who was president of Brazil from 2003 to 2010, previously said Neymar is “afraid of him.”
He said: ‘Neymar has the right to choose who he wants as president. I think he is afraid that if I win the election I will know what Bolsonaro has forgiven him (about) his tax debt.
“I think that’s why he’s afraid of me. It is clear that Bolsonaro has made a deal with (Neymar’s) father. Now that he has tax problems in Spain, this is a problem for the collection agency, not mine.’
In the first ballot, Lula received 48.43 percent of the vote, compared to Bolsonaro’s 43.20 percent, and the second ballot will take place on October 30.

Neymar previously claimed he had been “attacked” on social media for expressing his support for Bolsonaro.
Last month, Neymar posted a TikTok video of himself on a pro-Bolsonaro song, mimicking the number 22, the politician’s voting number for the election.
Reflecting on the criticism he had received, Neymar wrote on Twitter: “They talk about democracy and many things, but if someone has a different opinion, they are attacked by the same people who talk about democracy.
Bolsonaro previously visited a Neymar non-profit organization in Praia Grande.
Neymar said, “Thank you for your illustrious visit. I wish I was there, unfortunately I’m far away. But I will be with you in the next. I’m very happy because you’re here.’
