Newlywed is blasted with 15 bullets and killed just hours after getting married

A groom was killed by a barrage of bullets just hours after marrying the love of his life as heartbroken relatives paid tribute to the newlywed.

Tyreek Burton, 37, tragically lost his life Saturday evening just outside the Barber Park Events Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, after tying the knot with his wife Kiara Holloway, 33.

Officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting around 8:49 p.m., and when they arrived, they found Burton with “life-threatening injuries.”

During the gruesome scene, a dispatcher said Burton was shot 15 times, according to a recording from Broadcastify, a police scanner system, obtained by WRAL News.

Police said that although “life-saving efforts were immediately made,” Burton died later that evening.

The exact motive of the gruesome shooting is unclear. Police said the officer responded “in reference to an aggravated assault,” while Burton’s cousin, Keisha Satterfield, said the groom died “as a result of road rage that ended in gun violence.”

Holloway is seen smiling as Burton hugs her on their wedding night

Satterfield created one GoFundMe page in honor of her late cousin, along with a beautiful image of Burton and Holloway on the dance floor on the night of their wedding.

“On Saturday, October 12, 2024, my cousin married the love of his life on one of the happiest days of his life, which was tragically cut short due to road rage that ended in gun violence,” Satterfield wrote.

“He was a beloved husband, father of four beautiful girls, brother and friend, known for his generosity and infectious smile.

As of Monday evening, the page raised more than $800.

Others shared bittersweet moments of the couple during their special evening, moments before the violence ensued.

Holloway and Burton were seen posing at the altar, while his bride wore a lace mermaid-style dress with a long veil, and he donned a white and black tuxedo.

More images showed the couple walking into the reception, during their first dance as husband and wife, and Holloway posing with her bouquet in hand.

Shaye Holloway, the bride’s sister, took to Facebook to pay tribute to her late brother-in-law.

‘Life is so unfair. Life really is too short. How could the day we’ve all been waiting for turn out so bad? A beautiful day ended so ugly,” she said.

‘Worst thing I’ve ever had to experience. I’m just so hurt. I am hurt because of my sister and the girls. Family and friends. I’m lost, I’m confused all the time trying to be strong for my sister and nieces.

Lovers surrounded the newlyweds all night as they celebrated their love

“I keep thinking, why him?” Why on the wedding day? Why just why?? The replays of it in my head… I’m just broken, but I have to be strong for my sister and my nieces.

“I wish we could have left a little earlier or a little later and you would still be here with us. You will be missed, my brother,” she added.

Another family member posted a video montage of the wedding night as loved ones celebrated their love.

‘My heart is broken. Please pray for Kiara and the children, his mother, sister and other family, their strength, their understanding, their comfort!

‘It’s so bad when you feel like you can’t do anything. All I can give them is God and a shoulder to lean on. This is so sad!

‘Kiara asked me, “How can I marry the love of my life and lose him on the same day?” Oh my God, I have no words. This is hard!,” she wrote.
