An Iowa teacher who recently married is facing criminal charges over allegations she sexually assaulted a 14-year-old and sent nude photos to boys as young as 13 on Snapchat.

Cassidy Kraus, 24, resigned from IKM-Manning Schools on August 25, just three days before her husband filed for divorce. They were married for only 58 days.

At the time, the school board announced that they were investigating Kraus’ alleged behavior after a parent reported her for sending illegal material.

Last week, Kraus was arrested and charged with two counts of lascivious acts with a child, three counts of distribution of obscene material to a minor and third-degree sexual abuse.

If convicted, the 24-year-old faces up to 33 years in prison.

One of the charges alleges that Kraus “engaged in sexual acts with a person 14 years old.”

In addition, Kraus is said to have ‘caressed or touched’ the genitals of several children.

She is also accused of “disseminating obscene material” to one student in 2022 and two more in 2023.

The local high school employed Kraus as a reading teacher.

Kraus was released from jail after posting $10,000 bond the morning after her arrest.

Her first court appearance was Thursday. She has yet to enter a plea.

In Iowa, third-degree sexual abuse is a felony punishable by no more than 10 years in prison and a fine of more than $1,370, but less than $13,660.

Committing lascivious acts with a child is charged with the same penalty.

Distribution of obscene material carries prison sentences of up to one year and fines of up to $2,560.
