Newly arrived illegal immigrant kidnaps an 11-year-old girl and rapes her in his white van as her mother screams for help outside

A 20-year-old illegal migrant was arrested after allegedly kidnapping an 11-year-old girl from the street outside her Florida home and raping her last week.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office identified Marvin Dionel Perez Lopez as the girl’s attacker, claiming he forced her into his white van where the alleged assault occurred.

The child’s mother was looking for her daughter and saw the van not far from where she and Lopez lived, according to police. The mother even caught a glimpse of her daughter and Lopez in the van and began banging on the door and yelling at Lopez to free the girl, according to an arrest report.

Sheriff’s deputies said that’s when Lopez fled the van. The victim’s mother then stopped by Lopez’s apartment, where his brother also lived. Lopez’s brother called him home, where the mother confronted him.

After listening to Lopez’s pleas for forgiveness, the victim’s mother called 911.

Investigators at the scene interviewed the victim, who told them Lopez forced himself on her even after she tried to refuse and get away.

At the same time, Lopez tried to flee again, this time through a back window of his apartment. The police saw Lopez do this and went after him. It’s not clear if they caught him at the scene, but police confirmed Lopez’s arrest on Monday.

Lopez is from Guatemala and left the Central American country sometime in January, according to local station WPTV. Upon entering Mexico, he reportedly surrendered to the Border Patrol and was given a court hearing in 2027, after which he was released.

He reached Florida at the end of January.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said Lopez “confessed to the crime.”

“He will be tried for a capital crime before he even thinks he will be deported. He’s going to spend his time here first,” Bradshaw said.

An expert spoke to CBS12 and said that This type of crime is unusual.

‘Rape by strangers is much less common than rape by acquaintances. So usually it’s someone who knows the person,” said Palm Beach County Victim Services Director Nicole Bishop.

Hermencia Vasquez, Lopez's sister-in-law, said she asked him if he would be responsible for the 11-year-old girl's baby if she became pregnant from his alleged rape. According to her, Lopez said he would be responsible
