NewJeans is the PUBG collaboration I didn’t know I needed

It seems no world – physical or digital – is immune to NewJeans’ girly pop flair. The globally known K-pop group made its debut in The battlefields of PlayerUnknown as part of the 30.1 update on Wednesday. The collaboration adds each member of the group as a playable character, cute accessories to dress up your characters, emotes for popular dances to songs like “OMG,” and more. Equal parts bizarre and wonderful, the PUBG update has already captured the fascination of fans online.

Krafton released the NewJeans x PUBG: Battlegrounds collaboration to Windows PC users on Wednesday and will release it to console users on June 20. The PC patch also introduced some environmental changes. For example, Taego School has been transformed into a sparkling rainbow wonderland and there is now a pink and purple truck stage on the starting island of each 8km map. You can play as any member of NewJeans – Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin or Hyein – and dress up your character with cute pastel accessories. You can view all the details on the PUBG place.

The collaboration brings a vibrant splash of color to the rugged world of PUBG. Like other live service games, PUBG is no stranger to surprising collaborations. PUBG has collaborations with the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion and others games like Angry Birds. Despite this, the NewJeans collaboration manages to stand out from previous events and now people are sharing videos online of the girls in the game showing emotions. The dances just look so good. Here’s one video from Minji from NewJeans doing different dances to songs like ‘Super Shy’ and ‘OMG’.

It’s only been a day, but people have already started making memes of the girl group in the game. This video contains several moments, including one where Haerin dances to a played knockout and then shoots them at point-blank range.

Personally, I can’t get this video of different characters participating in dancing the choreo for “Hype Boy” by heart.

There’s a lot to try out, so if a bunch of bunnies were suddenly interested in trying it out PUBGI wouldn’t blame them.
