Sandro Tonali has been hit with 50 new misconduct charges for betting on football matches AFTER his transfer to Newcastle.

The Italian midfielder is already serving a 10-month ban, which expires on August 27, after admitting breaching gambling rules in his home country.

But Tonali, who joined the Magpies from AC Milan in July for £52million, could now face a further ban following the Football Association’s own investigation.

An FA statement said: ‘Sandro Tonali has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of the FA betting rules.

‘It is alleged that the Newcastle United midfielder breached FA Rule E8 50 times by placing bets on football matches between August 12, 2023 and October 12, 2023. Sandro Tonali has until April 5, 2024 to respond.’
