Callum Wilson is expected to be sidelined until the end of December due to Newcastle’s injury crisis ahead of a busy run of fixtures.
Wilson was substituted at half-time after Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in last week’s Champions League.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe revealed that Wilson was suffering from a ‘tight hamstring’.
The injury prevented Wilson from participating in Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday, with the striker also having to withdraw from the England squad.
Howe had claimed Wilson could miss a ‘number of weeks’, with the striker having since had a scan to assess the problem.

According to the TelegraphWilson is expected to miss four to six weeks with a hamstring injury and will likely return in late December.
“Unfortunately, a recent setback has forced me to withdraw from the squad I had worked so hard to be part of,” Wilson said as he withdrew from the England squad.

The loss of Wilson, who has scored seven goals this season, will be a major blow for Newcastle ahead of their crucial Champions League group matches against PSG and AC Milan.
Howe’s injury-hit side also face Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in the Premier League in the coming month.
The Magpies expected to compete against all three teams for European qualification this season.
Newcastle were forced to play Anthony Gordon in a makeshift striker role against Bournemouth, with Alexander Isak also absent due to a groin injury.
