Newcastle ‘join the race for Jude Bellingham’ but face competition from Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool and Man United… while Chelsea ‘no longer an option as a result of politics’ of Todd Boehly’s expenses
Newcastle have become the latest club to join the race to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer, according to reports from Germany.
The England midfielder has been the subject of a great deal of interest from a number of Europe’s top clubs, with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United and City believed to be among the top candidates for his signing.
But Newcastle has now become another potential destination for the 19-year-old, following their rise to the Champions League places in the Premier League, according to reports in the German outlet. BILD.
The Magpies have spent shrewdly since the Public Investment Fund takeover was completed in October 2021, but Bellingham is likely to demand a massive transfer fee to part Dortmund from their star.
It marks another statement of intent in what has been an incredible turnaround under Eddie Howe at Newcastle, after being relegated in the first half of the 2021-22 season.

Bellingham has been the subject of great interest from a host of top European clubs.
If Bellingham were to leave this summer, Dortmund would likely want a fee of around £130m to part ways with the player before the end of his contract.
Bellingham has a contract with the Bundesliga team until 2025, although the club hopes to convince them to extend their stay until at least 2026.
Newcastle made several offers to Leicester to try to sign James Maddison last summer, and the Foxes turned down a £60m offer to keep their talisman as Howe’s side look to rebuild their midfield.
The club parted ways with Jonjo Shelvey in January, who followed Chris Wood to Nottingham Forest, and Bellingham would bring energy and drive to a midfield set to play at high intensity.
The key will be whether they can secure Champions League football next season, although they are not believed to be among the top contenders for the 19-year-old.
But while Newcastle are entering the race for the 19-year-old, the German publication has claimed that Chelsea are now out of the running.
BILD claims that new owner Todd Boehly’s lavish spending, amounting to more than £323m in January alone, has put the Blues out of contention for Bellingham.
It is also believed that French giants PSG were not considered by the player’s family and representatives.
Bellingham is one of the most sought after players in the world, but his future is something his managers have worked to keep out of the media throughout his meteoric rise, and it remains unclear.

The search for the Liverpool star could also hinge on his continued participation in Europe’s biggest club competition next term, as Jurgen Klopp’s side are unlikely to finish in the top four.
They seemed likely candidates for the England midfielder, who has been on his radar for some time with Klopp also looking to rejuvenate a midfield that has looked out of pace at times this season.
The Reds have also been monitoring the Matheus Nunes situation at Wolves in preparation for an alleged summer bust.
Borussia Dortmund bosses are preparing a last-minute offer worth £13.25m a year for him.
Bellingham was expected to leave the German squad this summer for one of Europe’s biggest clubs, but Dortmund are believed to be preparing a record deal to retain his services.
Bild reports that the German outfit are preparing a last-minute offer worth £13.25m a year, which would make Bellingham the highest-paid player in the club’s history, in a desperate bid to retain him.
