Newcastle are hoping Kieran Trippier will return for the final three games of the season to support their European push, and that will be good news for England ahead of the 2024 European Championship.
Mail Sport understands that the 33-year-old – who was sidelined for two months with a calf injury – is currently in Dubai, where he is working with a physio and fitness coach.
Trippier was injured in the 3-0 win over Wolves on 2 March and was due to feature after the international break later that month. However, he suffered a setback and his return date was postponed to the match at Crystal Palace last week.
When he subsequently missed the 2-0 defeat at Selhurst Park, there were fears among supporters that his season could be over.
However, we can reveal there is confidence Trippier will feature when Newcastle entertain Brighton for a week on Saturday, with away games at Manchester United and Brentford before the end of the season.

He will not be involved against Burnley on Saturday but will return to training next week, with strong hopes he will be in the squad for the final home game against the Seagulls.
That would be a huge boost for Eddie Howe, whose side have maintained their push for European football with four wins from their last six games. They are currently seventh, one point behind Man United in sixth place.
Trippier’s expected return will also be noticed by Gareth Southgate, with the defender one of the leading contenders to start at left-back for England this summer.
