New Zealand confirmed their place in the World Cup quarter-finals by making 11 tries to overwhelm Uruguay, scoring a stunning try in the process.

The South Americans needed an 80-point win to keep their World Cup hopes alive, and although that was never going to happen, they held off their opponents for nineteen minutes and would have taken the lead had the TMO blocked Manuel’s effort Ardao had not ruled out.

Damian McKenzie provided the All Blacks’ first score and that was soon added to by Richie Mo’unga, Will Jordan and Cam Roigard, earning them a bonus point before half-time.

The moment of the match was undoubtedly Jordan’s try in the 32nd minute of the match, which was orchestrated by some great play from McKenzie.

The full-back collected the ball, kicked it forward and chased it down before handing it off to Jordan, who made no mistake in securing the points.

McKenzie showed blistering pace and cool head to create the opportunity for his teammate to score.

New Zealand showed lethal form in the 96-17 dismantling of Italy last week and were clinical again here as Leicester Fainga’anuku scored a second-half hat-trick.

They will finish second in Group A unless Italy pull off a surprise win over France tonight.
