Young New Zealand woman ‘disappears’ while holidaying in Bali – as her family reveal ‘unusual’ sign something may be wrong

The family of a young New Zealand woman holidaying in Bali have raised the alarm after not hearing from her for three days.

Kaya Awhitu traveled to Bali last Thursday, October 3, but has not been heard from her since Sunday.

“This isn’t like them! We are so worried,” her family wrote online.

“If anyone knows the authorities in Bali we can contact for assistance, please message me.”

Ms Awhitu, from Papamoa, was last seen at Rumah Surga Villa, her accommodation, in Ubud, in the south of the island.

Adding to the family’s concerns, Mrs Awhitu has been active on her Facebook Messenger but has not responded.

“We know there is activity on her messenger, but we believe it is not her,” they said.

“Maybe she just has some free time, but this is still unusual.”

Ms Awhitu’s family first became concerned after being unable to meet her partner.

“They were supposed to meet by boat to go to the next place, but she didn’t show up,” said a relative.

‘He went back to the villa where they were staying and everything was packed.

“We’re really concerned because she hasn’t contacted anyone.”

There’s more to come.
