New York’s oldest resident has opened up about her exploits, admitting she lived to be 112 because she never married or had children.

Louise Jean Signore was born in Harlem in 1912 and devoted nearly forty years of her life as an employee of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

After working for the MTA for 39 years, the 4-foot-11 Italian-American woman saw all four of her younger siblings die over the years.

Louise has now celebrated her 112th birthday and has extensively described her advice for a happy and long life.

She admitted that she owed her life of over 100 years to the fact that she had remained single.

While I was with the New York PostLouise explained that she lived so long because she abandoned men, drink and children.

She told the outlet, “That’s why I’m alive. That’s why I’m okay, because I’m not married… no marriage, no kids. I’d rather be single.”

She added that you had “problems” when you got married.

And her stressful, male-free life has ensured that she has outlived her brothers, sisters and friends.

Louise also said she has stayed healthy by not smoking or drinking and has focused even more on her health after retiring from the MTA at age 65, according to News 12.

“I don’t smoke and I don’t drink,” she said.

She also makes sure to take good care of her own health and pays a lot of attention to feeling good by taking naps and enjoying delicious Italian food.

“It’s my body. Nobody tells me what to do. I do what I think is best. It works,” she said.

As for her diet, Louise said she also doesn’t drink coffee.

“I don’t have much, I have eggs, I have bread and jam and tea, but that’s it. No coffee, I don’t drink coffee,” she added.

Louise says that now she only enjoys watching television and seeing the neighborhood children playing.

She told the newspaper: ‘I enjoy it when it’s a nice day and the assistants take me outside… I’m too old to do anything special anymore.’

The 112-year-old celebrated her birthday last week with her cousin and neighbor, Francis Perkins.

And Louise was even luckier, because her neighbor gave her a ticket for the big day and she won a whopping $50.

Louise talked about her childhood and even said that the world was ‘safer’ during World War II than it is now.
