New York Yankees World Series winner dead days after 92nd birthday

Bud Daley, two-time World Series winner with the New York Yankees, has died at the age of 92.

Daley was part of the successful title-winning Yankees team in 1961 and 1962.

The team said in a statement Saturday: “The Yankees mourn the passing of Bud Daley and extend our deepest condolences to Bud’s family, friends and loved ones.”

Daley turned 92 on October 7 and died on October 15, eight days after his birthday.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy, their four children and eight grandchildren.

Daley’s 10-year career in baseball as a pitcher saw him play for the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Athletics before joining the Yankees.

Daley was not only a two-time World Series winner, but also a four-time All-Star.

His Yankees team is in action on Saturday evening, playing the Cleveland Guardians for a spot in the World Series.
