The New York Rangers are listed as the NHL’s Most Valuable Team for the eighth year in a row, with a value of $2.2BILLION that puts them at the top of the latest Forbes rankings ahead of the Maple Leafs…but what? who else is in the top 10 and is YOUR team included?
The New York Rangers have been listed as the most valuable team in the NHL for the eighth consecutive year, with a value estimated by Forbes at a whopping $2.2BILLION.
The team, owned by James Dolan and MSG Sports, are mainstays at the top of the list despite not having won any of their four Stanley Cups since 1994.
This season, the Manhattan-based side is only the fifth-best team in the Metropolitan Division, having won just 15 of their 30 games thus far.

But despite their average form on the ice, their financials look rosy, with the Toronto Maple Leafs ($2 billion) second behind them.
In general, as reported by receiving sportsNHL team valuations are up 19% this year, and the Rangers themselves are up 10% from 2021.
Much of the momentum across the league is due to the new media rights deal with Disney’s ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, which will see the league pay a whopping $400 million annually from ESPN and $250 million annually from Warner Bros. Bros.
Coming in third on the top 10 list are the Molson Family’s Montreal Canadiens ($1.85 billion), while the Chicago Blackhawks round out the top four with their valuation of $1.5 billion.
This week, there was some movement in the ownership stable as well, with Samantha Holloway joining her father David Bonderman as part-owner of the Seattle Kraken.
Holloway becomes the third NHL franchise owner, joining Ann Walton Kroenke of the Colorado Avalanche and Kim Pegula of the Buffalo Sabres.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are listed as the second most valuable team in the NHL this year.
