New York Mets fan falls 12 feet over railings onto the field midway through Sunday’s Giants game
Bizarre moment New York Mets fan midway through Sunday’s game vs. the Giants falls 10 feet over the railing and lands on the field… but escaped injury and returned to his seat!
The New York Mets game against the Giants at Citi Field was temporarily interrupted Sunday night when a fan bizarrely fell over the railing and onto the field.
It was the bottom of the fifth when the game had to be halted. The moment the fan fell, presumably by accident, was not captured on the broadcast, but cameras quickly cut to the man standing by the wall, holding his face.
As security rushed over to him, he held up his hands to indicate he was not a field intruder or someone looking to cause a disturbance and appeared to have been injured by a fall and a face plant about 10 feet high.
A video soon surfaced on Twitter showing the fan on the floor looking a little dazed.
You can hear other supporters shouting to ask if he’s okay and laughing almost incredulously as they say ‘the game is still on!’.

Soon after, he was back in the stands and lived out the moment for his fellow stunned fans

The man appeared to be asking fans to throw down napkins he could hold to his bloodied nose.
“That’s not a joke,” David Cone said on the air. “Hope he’s okay.”
He held his face but appeared to be unharmed – by the top of the sixth, cameras found him back among the crowd showing no sign of cuts or bruises.
Fortunately, he was also wearing a hat and sunglasses that he had taken off the field to hide his face.
But he still had a great story to tell the fans he sat with when he returned to his seat for the rest of the match.
It all turned out to be a real accident. And thankfully, there was no offense to him—the Mets won 8-4 to earn their first MLB series win in a month.
The Mets led 5-1 at the time with Francisco Alvarez at the plate.
