‘While I am a profound person, I am a man of few words. I’ve searched my heart for what to do and I think leaving the game is the best path for me right now.
“I have more blessings than I could have ever imagined: I have a wonderful family, a beautiful wife, and two healthy children that I enjoy spending more time with.
“I am truly grateful for all the opportunities I have had and will continue to have on my journey. I want to thank my family and friends and the Jets organization for their support in this process.”

Jets coach Robert Saleh said the “door is always open” should Davis decide to reverse his decision at any point.
“My heart goes out to him and his family,” Saleh told reporters. “We will always support him in every decision he makes, and we are always there when he needs us.
Davis spent four seasons at Tennessee after being called up to Western Michigan.

His best season came in 2020, when he scored 984 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games.
