New York Jets coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas are STAYING, announces owner Woody Johnson – despite missing out on the playoffs after Aaron Rodgers injury

Jets owner Woody Johnson has confirmed that head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas will return for the 2024 season.

It comes despite the New York Jets failing to make the playoffs after falling to 5-9 after high expectations were placed on them in the summer.

The Jets were rocked by Aaron Rodgers' season-ending Achilles injury just the fourth snap of his debut at MetLife Stadium.

Since then, they have struggled with Zach Wilson under center, using four quarterbacks over the course of the season and failing to provide any offensive threat.

But that hasn't been enough to prompt Johnson to reboot the organization's top positions.

“It's my decision to keep them,” Johnson said told the New York Post for Sunday's game with the Commanders.

'I think we have made some very positive steps. The culture of the team is a lot better.

'The defense is better. The offense needs some pieces.”

“Just to maintain continuity with Aaron and the team that we have,” he added.

“Like I said a year ago, we need a quarterback. We had a quarterback for four plays.

'We haven't been able to replace him since. When we have a good quarterback, it makes everyone's job easier. It makes the line better, the receivers better.”
