Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards sees no reason why New York should not be able to welcome the Champions League final as he and fellow CBS pundits Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry took part in an American-themed question-and-answer session .

The three former football stars are known for their entertaining punditry during the European elite competition and regularly take part in an ‘In the Mixer’ session.

With CBS Sports’ Golazo show heading to the Big Apple for match day five later this month, host Kate Abdo presented a US version of the Q&A segment.

When asked whether New York City should host the Champions League final, Richards was fully in favor of the idea, while Carragher disagreed, comparing it to his beloved Liverpool at the Super Bowl.

Jokingly, the final should be played in two weeks if the panel is on the American side. When asked again, Richards added, ā€œ100 percent. Why not?’

Carragher replied: “Because there are no American teams in it!” While Abdo added: ‘Because it’s a European competition.’

Richards added: ‘It doesn’t matter. So?’

The former Liverpool defender then asked: ‘What about having the Super Bowl in Liverpool?’

Ex-striker Henry stopped that idea by saying it wouldn’t happen.

The pundits then couldn’t agree on who is the best American football player ever, as Carragher chose a star other than Henry and Richards.

Richards said, ‘Ooh… Clint Dempsey! My boy Clint, I’m going with my boy Clint.

Carragher quickly replied, ā€œNo! I’m going with Landon Donovan.’

The former Premier League defender was criticized by Abdo for failing to select his fellow CBS colleague.

She said, “Clint is on our team, disrespectful to anyone on our team.”

Henry admitted it was a “difficult” choice, but sided with Richards, saying, “I’d go with Clint.”

The panel was also asked about their favorite pizza toppings, the height of the Empire State Building, how many hot dogs they could eat in 10 minutes, but one question seemed to leave them all stumped: “What’s a bodega?”

Carragher said, “Sounds like ice cream,” while Richards replied, “A bodega?! I’ve never heard of that in my life!’

All hopes were pinned on former New York Red Bulls star Henry, as Abdo said, ‘Thierry? Come on, you’re a man from New York.’

He replied, ‘It depends. I’m sorry I don’t know. I’m French, remember?’

The trio couldn’t guess the right answer, but are now all set for their trip to the US on October 25 and 26.

Dempsey, Maurice Edu and former USMNT international Charlie Davies will also participate in the broadcast, titled “Destination Brooklyn.”
