New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is generating interest in the NFL following several head coach firings.
Both Houston and Carolina requested to interview Kafka on Tuesday after a successful season calling plays for Big Blue.
On Tuesday, both struggling franchises asked the Giants for permission to assess the validity of their credentials as future leaders of their respective organizations.

Kafka is just 35 years old, and given his offensive acumen, he fits the profile of what’s trending now in the league.
The Rams’ Sean McVay, the Eagles’ Nick Sirianni and Sunday’s opponent, the Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell, are examples of relatively sharp offensive minds who have been charged with leading a struggling franchise to prominence.
Kafka spent six seasons in the NFL between 2010 and 2015, appearing in four games over the course of his career during stints with Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and Minnesota.
The Houston Texans are in the market for a new head coach after firing Lovie Smith on Monday.
He also had time on New England, Jacksonville, Tennessee and Cincinnati offseason/practice squad rosters.
Northwestern began his coaching career as a graduate assistant before learning from Andy Reid in various roles from 2017-2021, before Daboll removed him from his quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator role in Kansas City.
