Brian Daboll of the New York Giants is named NFL Coach of the Year after leading the 4-12 G-Men to their first playoff victory in 11 years.

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll was named the AP NFL Coach of the Year after a successful season with Big Blue.

Daboll led the Giants to the playoffs in his first season in the Big Apple, a feat the franchise hadn’t accomplished since 2016.

Under their no-nonsense leader, New York won its first postseason game since the 2011 Super Bowl win over Minnesota on Wildcard weekend.

Daboll entered the Meadowlands facility with the once-proud franchise struggling and low on cap space.

Along with general manager Joe Schoen, he turned the 4-13 G-Men into a 9-7-1 team that ultimately lost to Philadelphia in the divisional round.

The Giants at one stage of the 2022 NFL season were 6-1 before a slower second half of the season.

Daboll won the award with 16 first-place votes to surpass 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, who got 12.

He was introduced to it by NFL Hall of Famer and current Colorado coach Deion Sanders.

He had 123 points to Shanahan’s 100 in the closest race of any 2022 AP NFL Awards.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson finished third with 75 points, including five first-place votes. Bills coach Sean McDermott was fourth followed by Philadelphia’s Nick Sirianni.

McDermott got seven first-place votes, Sirianni got six, Kansas City’s Andy Reid got two and Minnesota’s Kevin O’Connell and Detroit’s Dan Campbell each got one.
