Black smoke was seen coming from a ConEd factory in Brooklyn as power outages were reported across New York City.
The outage occurred just after midnight on Friday and footage captured shows plumes spreading from the facility.
A temporary power outage in New York City followed, after which the lights flickered for a few seconds.
The New York City Fire Department quickly responded and sirens were seen coming from the ConEd plant on Gold Street.
After the incident, most electricity is operational again. Con Edison has said it is currently investigating the matter and DailyMail.com has contacted the company for more information.

Residents across New York City complained about the brief power outage, with most people confused about the outage.
Lights were reported flickering in neighborhoods including Lower Manhattan, the Upper East Side, Bed-Stuy, Downtown Brooklyn and Long Island City.
There were reports of two brief power outages in the space of about 15 minutes.
“My mom and I were just talking in the kitchen and the lights went out for a moment,” one resident wrote on X.
“We just stared at each other wondering what the hell had happened. Thanks for scaring me to hell and back, ConEd.”
