New York City FC has released the latest images of the club’s massive stadium project at Flushing Meadows, including the massive access road to the site.

Nicknamed β€œThe Cube,” the club describes the entrance as β€œan immersive seven-story front door to New York City’s first-ever soccer-specific stadium.”

‘The Cube’ appears to be made of concrete on the outside, with the club’s logo etched into the exterior.

Inside is a video board that spans three sides of the square structure.

It is the latest development in plans for a stadium expected to be completed in 2027.

The facility will be built across the street from Citi Field, home of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.

It will also be next to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open tennis tournament.

Plans for this stadium were announced in November 2022 – the cost was then estimated at approximately $780 million and was part of a larger redevelopment of the Flushing Meadows area.

The entire project is being funded by the club’s owners, City Football Group.

Although it is a big step forward for the club, the stadium will open more than 14 years after the team was founded.

At the time, they were essentially second tenants on a ballpark: Yankee Stadium.

Scheduling conflicts with the Yankees in the past have seen them play home games at various locations in the New York area, including Citi Field, Belson Stadium on the campus of St. Johns University, Coffey Field on the campus of Fordham University, and Red Bull. Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

In addition, they had to play home games at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, as well as at Pratt & Whitney Field, a college football stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut.
