Nineteen people were arrested in Sydney's CBD as New Year celebrations took place, with police investigating reports that three men had been stabbed.
Thousands poured into the city center on Sunday evening to ring in the new year, as more than 225,000 people crowded 49 viewing points across Sydney to watch the iconic midnight fireworks.
Police said the crowd was largely “well-behaved” during the festivities, with only 19 arrests made throughout the evening, including assault and drug offences.
No arrests have yet been made over an alleged stabbing that left three men injured in Woolloomooloo just after midnight on Monday.

The men were treated for minor injuries.
“Every year Sydney welcomes the New Year with an extraordinary city-wide celebration, and this year was no different. Fortunately, the vast majority did so in the right spirit. There were few arrests,” NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Cooke said.
“As people head home or continue their celebrations into New Year's Day, police will maintain a high-visibility presence across the state to ensure everyone stays safe.”
During the New Year celebrations there were two fireworks shows on Sunday evening: the eight-minute 'family fireworks' at 9 p.m. and a twelve-minute show at midnight.
