The new season of Channel Nine’s hit renewal show The Block will start filming in a few days.

Charming St in Melbourne’s Hampton East is buzzing with activity as five properties, bought last year for a whopping $14.3 million, are being readied for production, with significant extensions already being added to the rear of each. property. the heralding sun reports.

The houses at 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 Charming St were acquired by MicJoy Pty Ltd, a company owned by Nine, in separate off-market deals.

The most expensive of the bunch, 20 Charming St, cost a whopping $3.5 million when it was purchased last July.

Only one of the five properties purchased along the row of houses at numbers 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 has two bedrooms. The other four boast three to four bedrooms.

The size of each block ranges from 575 to 703 m2.

The Block filmed its 2021 season in neighboring Hampton, just a mile from the 2023 location.

Buyers agent Denise Jacobs, who sold her own Hampton home to Nine for $1.59 million for The Block’s 2021 season, said East Hampton was “taking off” even if it was Hampton’s “poor cousin,” which tends to be more expensive.

Describing Charming Street as ‘great’, he said: ‘It’s a happy little pocket and there are some lovely established houses.

The prices buyers paid for Hampton homes in 2021 ranged from $2.3 million to $3 million, so fans should expect to see similar prices for East Hampton.

Jacobs added that the 2023 season of The Block will be “easier” for the producers than the current season.

The Block 2022 is filming in Gisborne in Victorian country, a 40-minute drive from Melbourne, and is said to be one of the most ambitious seasons yet.

Each team is building a house on 10 acres of land.
