New parents roasted over birth announcement as several say baby daughter’s name is going to get her bullied

New parents are being heavily criticized for the name they give their newborn baby girl.

The girl’s unique name was displayed on a large billboard outside Intermountain Health’s Bloomin’ Babies Birth Center.

“Welcome to the world Annaly, 7 pounds and 10 ounces,” the sign read.

Annaly is Irish and a variation of the female name Annaleigh, meaning ‘light’ or ‘grace’, according to Cute baby name.

“It is a perfect choice for parents looking for a unique and timeless name for their daughter,” the website says.

New parents not only chose a very unique name for their baby girl, but also publicly displayed it on a large billboard (see photo) for everyone to see

The image of the giant birth announcement, posted on Redditquickly caused a stir online as people reacted to the odd choice of name.

Someone said, ‘That poor kid is going to be bullied so mercilessly…’

One of them joked, “Not the traditional way to give birth, but I guess to each their own!”

“Oh my goodness, that poor child,” wrote someone else.

“Doomed to be Anally forever,” wrote another.

Someone else said the poor choice of name “is a hate crime.”

Others suggested similar names, not spelled so crudely.

“Why not “Anna Lee,” said one commentator.

Liam and Olivia remain the most popular boys’ and girls’ names in 2023, according to new government data. It is the seventh and sixth year that they have both held the top spot.

The most popular names are compiled from annual data on all babies registered at birth with the Social Security Administration (SSA). The agency began collecting names in 1997.

Among girls’ names, Emma and Charlotte came in second and third, while Noah and Oliver were second and third among the most popular boys’ names.

Amelia ranked fourth in the girls’ names category for the third year in a row, while Sophia came in fifth for the second year in a row.

There was only one new name in the top 10 list for 2023. Mateo made his first appearance in the list of best boys and entered at number six.

While some names have stood the test of time, the SSA reports that social media stars are having more influence than ever on new parents’ name choices.

Kaeli was the fastest-rising girls’ name last year, jumping 1,692 spots, after YouTube and TikTok influencer Kaeli McEwen, better known as Kaeli Mae, who has a million followers and promotes a clean and tidy lifestyle on her account.

According to the SSA, TikTok creator Wyatt Eiden’s three million followers may have helped make the name Eiden the third fastest-rising boy’s name in 2023.

Liam has been hugely popular as a boy’s name since it took the top spot in 2017, replacing Noah, the most popular name since 2013.

Olivia remains the most popular girl’s name in the US as of 2018. The name first became popular after the release of the TV series ‘Scandal’ in 2012, named after the main character Olivia Pope.
