Two of Netflix’s best series come together in the new Heart Conqueror season 3 trailer as Bridgeton‘S Jonathan Bailey transforms from Regency-era misfit to celebrity crush for his cameo role in this hit teen romance, opening October 3.
Early 2022 has been a special time for the top streaming service. First, it was Bailey’s Anthony Bridgerton stepping into the spotlight for his will-they-won’t-they romance with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) in Bridgeton season 2 and after that came Heartbreaking. The queer coming-of-age drama, an adaptation of Alice Oseman’s graphic novels of the same name, was met with critical acclaim and was renewed for a second and third season just a month after its premiere.
Now, the two very different worlds collide as Bailey takes on the role of Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous classicist and Charlie Spring’s (Joe Locke) celebrity crush. We got our first look at Bailey’s appearance in the new Heart Conqueror Season 3 trailer (see below) sees Charlie and his friend Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) meet him at a book launch, where a shy Nick struggles to form a sentence before enthusiastically telling them how attractive he is.
That’s not the only exciting addition to the cast, however, as the trailer gave us our first look at Hayley Atwell (Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One) as Nick’s aunt Diane who gives him advice about his relationship with Charlie, and Eddie Marsan (Supacell) as Charlie’s wise therapist, Geoff.
Meanwhile, the trailer also teases Charlie and Nick’s emotional turmoil as they face their biggest challenges yet, and we get a glimpse of some of the teens’ other personal struggles, with Elle (Yasmin Finney) confiding in Tao (William Gao) about her gender dysphoria. Get the tissues out!
What can we expect from Heartstopper season 3?
Heart Conqueror Series creator and writer Alice Oseman said Tudum that the story for season 3, one of the most high-profile projects to leak online after a massive Netflix data breach in August, will focus on Nick “beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues.” “Mental health, sex, college ambitions and more: Nick, Charlie and the Heart Conqueror Teens are growing older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”
Heart Conqueror Season 3 will also offer something new to the dedicated fanbase while staying true to the core message, as Oseman added: “I’m so excited because it’s going to feel like a completely different season, and I love that we’re doing something different. It would be easy to say, ‘Oh, Heart Conqueror Season 3, let’s just do the same thing we’ve always done. People are going to like it. But we’re doing something that’s going to feel very different, and people are going to be surprised, and I can’t wait.”
All of our favorite characters return, including Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), and Jenny Walser (Tori) as they all navigate the trials and tribulations of teenage existence, while learning to lean on the people they love when life gets tough.
